Tim Tucker, the well-known former Chief Instructor of the Robinson Helicopter Company, had been a FAA helicopter Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) for 40 years until he retired at the end of March this year. He conducted private through ATP tests, including initial CFIs in 13 helicopter make & models when he retired but through the years has given tests in 26 different helicopter types. As of January 2023, Tim has conducted 8,730 helicopter practical tests (includes retests), which he estimates to be more than any other helicopter pilot examiner in FAA history. He has logged an incredible 7,493 hours as a pilot examiner, and is a 2024 inductee to the Flight Instructor Hall of Fame.
